  1. False, kinda? I like it, but not as much as some other seasons. Prefers hot drinks to cold ones?
  2. True! Already did some HOL homework?
  3. *Maxim slides into the thread* Nope! Prof. Sky, that you?
  4. Maxim managed to push himself to the front of the commotion and immediately produced a very high-pitched yell when something burst above him, raining down...Where those sparks? “Who let him out?” Maxim yelled, hoping that some of the other staff would be able to hear him and offer some assistance. Or at least someone who knew what was going on. Yelping again, Maxim was covered in glitter when he failed to move fast enough away from Peeves’ rampage. “I’ll hunt you down,” he growled and useless aimed a spell at the Poltergeist, which missed by a mile.
  5. “Hey, Iverian,” Maxim smiled at the enthusiasm and motioned for her to sit down. He ordered another butterbeer for him and whatever Iverian would like to drink. “Ancient Runes are not that hard, but you need to learn your runes really well,” Maxim explained. “The class is not that hard, but there are sometimes tricky questions that have very similar runes for answers and that can trip you up.” “Why do you want to drop Divination, that is like, the easiest subject to get a good grade in?” he asked her, raising his eyebrows. Shrugging, Maxim offered, “Care of Magical Creatures is nice, or you can do a niche class, like Alchemy or Occlumency.”
  6. Michael Ende's The Neverending Story is a whirlwind fantasy about a magical boy named Bastian. As a target of ferocious bullying and with low self-esteem, Bastian finds true magic and confidence in the books. When he picks up The Neverending story he is portkeyed to a land, which will change his life forever. On his way to charms class Bastian ducks into the library to avoid bullies. Summoning a book called The Neverending Story, Bastian begins reading it on the top of the Astronomy Tower. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by The Nothing, darkness that destroys everything it touches. The magical kingdom needs the help of a magical human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive. Why the changes? I did not want to change too much as the story is already magical, I just tried to make it as Harry Potter-like as possible.
  7. Despite having horror elements, or at least things that are scary for people, I never considered the Harry Potter series particularly frightful. However, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is, for me at least, perhaps the scariest of the bunch, despite there being a literal war in the last two movies. There is something about hidden enemies, no one knowing what is going on, how it moves, but suddenly, you have a petrified student. That always unnerved me and when you find out that no one died just because of luck, that makes it so much scarier.
  8. I believe that out of all movies, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is closest to its book origin. Not a shocking fact, since the book is the shortest of the lot. There is something magical about the movie, how you can feel what Harry feels with your first glimpse of the magical world and Hogwarts especially. It holds a part of my movie heart and whenever I want to feel a little nostalgia, I always put it on.
  9. Maxim: Joining me this evening is the recent winner of the Daily Prophet Young Actress of the Year award Sandra Lickmer. She is currently appearing on the Witching Hour in the spectacular musical, Bowtruckles & Hippogriffs. Sandra, welcome. Sandra: Thank you, Maxim. It's a pleasure to be here. Maxim: Your life has been rather hectic recently, wouldn't you say? Sandra: Oh yes, I haven't had time to take a breath, honestly, for about ten or so months. Maxim: Tell us what you're up to these days. Sandra: Well, Bowtruckles & Hippogriffs has been running for three months now but I've been working non-stop since I began working on my new movie, Battle of Beauxbatons. Maxim: Ah yes, this is quite a departure for you, isn't it? Sandra: In as much as I have never worked in cinema before, yes it is. I have found it a very rewarding experience and co-stars, such as Georgie MacDaniels, are just dearies. Maxim: Tell us something about this movie. Sandra: Well, everyone knows MacDaniels plays the lead role but it's a team performance to tell you the truth. Yeah, Georgie is our seeker but he has great support all across the field. Maxim: What position are you in on this Quidditch team? Sandra: Me? Oh...I carry the Skeelgro to the injured players. No, seriously, I play Georgie's wife. I don't want to give too much away, to spoil things for the readers, but Georgie isn't exactly a good guy in this movie. Maxim: Now you say you don't want to give too much away but you could give us a little looksie, couldn't you? Sandra: Oh sure...this is a superb, dark action mystery in the great tradition of cinema. Leaves you guessing right until the final frame who is to blame for the lot. A lotta twists and turns in the plot. And, I gotta say, some great cinematography too. Maxim: Has the title been confirmed or a release date yet? Sandra: We are looking at a release date around Christmas. Maxim: Sandra Lickmer, as always, it's been great speaking with you. The best of luck with all your projects and come back and see us as soon as possible. Sandra: Just try and stop me! Thanks for having me on the show Maxim.
  10. I tend not to buy any snacks in the cinema as they are rather overpriced and I scarf them down even before the movie starts. However, since I am mostly watching movies at home, I tend to make a good spread of them, especially if I am doing movie marathons. I love the snack mix that is similar to salty, pretzel sticks and besides them also include more breaded snacks in the shape of fish with other spices and sesame seeds. If I feel like eating more refreshing snacks, I cut up some fruit or make a fruit bowl topped with cream. I like the freedom of snacks and drinks (or none of them) at home.
  11. Eugh, Dolores Umbridge is definitely my favorite villain of the series, if not my favorite character overall. Imelda Staunton is so perfect for the role that now years later when she almost always portrayed “good” people in other movies, I can never see her as anything other than the Hogwarts High Inquisitor. I do think that she honestly makes, what would otherwise be one of the weaker movies, better. I think they took too much out of the book to make it flow as nicely as some previous movie entries in the series.
  12. I still maintain that Goblet of Fire is my favorite book and my favorite movie of the lot. I love the arrival of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students and how they expanded on the “exhibition” of their powers. I thought that it was weird they needlessly gendered the schools as it is written in the books all genders are present. I was also really sad to see they showed nothing of the Quidditch World Cup except getting to the seats and the start, which is the least interesting part if you ask me. Nonetheless, I loved the movie, maybe because of the overarching Triwizard Tournament story and the first “real” look of Lord Voldemort.
  13. What I like most about the 8th and last movie of the bunch, Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the music. Do not get me wrong, the “Harry Potter theme” is a classic, but there is just something about the last movie and its score that really complements the scenes, the drama, the stakes, and practically everything about it.
  14. Maxim: *Maxim rolls his eyes* "And here I thought Gryffindors were supposed to be the brave ones. *Maxim drawls out, side-eyeing Iverian* "But no matter, I'm sure it won't be that bad." *he said confidently and started abiding by the map, walking further*
  15. Maxim: *Maxim quietly follows Iverian up the stairs, but then remembers something* "Do you think there are any obstacles on the way to the dragon?" *Maxim bites his lip* "Like, I don't know, traps, or something?" *Maxim asks the group at large*
