"God, that's so juvenile of you," Maxim rolled his eyes at Peeves. Then again, what did he expect of a poltergeist of all beings. Maxim heard that joke a million of times, heck, he was sure the Muggles invented it. "A stick?" he answered, though since he was dealing with Peeves, it might just be that the answer was wrong. Maxim glanced in trepidation at the first year that answered the riddle first, preparing his wand to intervene, just in case.

'Be careful, Hannah!' Maxim yelled in warning, as Peeves threw several balloons filled with slime down the stairs. Hissing at another obstacle, Maxim designated two students on the periphery of the shield group to use charms to suck the slime away as they would advance. Peeves spoke to him, so Maxim waved for the advancing group to stop and took several steps towards the poltergeist in order to parlay. He trusted the apparition as far as he could throw him (so, not at all), but decided to listen if only for the sake of the younger students. 'And what, pray tell, is this riddle?' Maxim raised on eyebrow, a wand clutched in his hand, just in case.

"I will call an Exorcist on you," Maxim screeched and moved back, dragging along an over-zealous third year that was just missed with a dungbomb. He briefly saw Hannah and Violet, giving them both friendly nods. At the snickering of some other students, Maxim rolled his eyes and tried to tell himself he was not running away, just making a tactical retreat. After some deliberation, Maxim gathered up some of the older years and told them the plan to breach the front door. He called up to the younger years, standing on a low wall to make himself seen. "First and second years, please gather behind the older students," Maxim instructed them, and tried to keep an eye on any errant Peeves' misdeeds. "We'll try for the Great Hall with shield charms," he briefly explained, giving the students some time to organize in small groups behind the older years.
