  1. Ivey thinks about Tarma's idea for a second. "Hmm, you might have a point there. I'll give Maxim the map for now and I'll stay right behind checking the castle as we go for any signs of danger." She hands Maxim the map. "Lets keep an eye out for any mysterious signs like dragon markings or the like." They head deeper down into the castle until they hit a solid wall. "I would think we need to get on the other side of this wall... that's where the dragon is if I'm remembering the map correctly. Any ideas for getting through it... safely? On second thought, we might want to brainstorm what we're going to do with the dragon when we get around this wall."
  2. *finishes listening to Maxim’s long drawl* “Typical Ravenclaw pointing out all the dangers a quest could pose. Since you are obviously versed on castle expeditions, you can lead!” She adds with mock enthusiasm even though he’s already a few steps ahead. “Good point Tarma, it could be rather old. No worries though, with Maxim’s lead we shall all fare well!” Ivey smirked a bit as they reached the top of the staircase and then she piped up again. “According to the map, we need to head down the staircase to the left. That’ll actually bring us closer to the east end which is where the basement is. I’ll lead later, but this map following business really takes up quite too much effort to lead on top of it.”
  3. Ivey pauses just as she’s about to climb the next stair. “Ummm it’s definitely something we should look out for. Now all you’ve done is worry me.” She backtracks a few steps. “Although don’t you think the map creator would have labeled dangerous places if that was the case? Besides, the dragon took residence after the royal family left. So unless the dragon or the map creator put in traps, who would have? Either way, you go first Maxim. Just until I can reasonably decide it’s safe.” She gives him a reassuring thumbs up.
  4. Ivey glances at the map again. “Hmmm… it actually looks like it’s two floors up, and five floors down to the basement. The staircase only allows us to start going down after going up if I’m reading this right…” ”I don’t know if my sources are correct, but I heard the last royal family left this castle a century ago. They tried to come back seventy five years later, but found a dragon guarding the entrance. Whoever wrote this map must have further gone in and found the dragons lair. It’s guarding something I believe. Treasure probably.” Ivey headed up the staircase.
  5. Replant Mandrakes for sure. Would you rather spend a day with Filch or a day with Umbridge?
  6. I slap Maxim for thinking anyone other than myself rules the world. I appreciate you correcting him Sky. *adjusts crown*
  7. Ivey looked up just as she heard a voice. Seeing Aure approach, she shifted over on the bench. “Of course! Excited for the new term?” She asked. Of course this was a silly question, everyone was excited in some way, but it was a conversation starter at least. One of her fellow Gryffs, Raevia approaches the two. “Yes I am! I’ve got quite the list here. Contemplating dropping Divination. I’ll have to speak with a professor, but Ancient Runes might be more my vibe,” she added with her eyebrows drawn. This took a lot of thought. Seeing Maxim approach, she flagged him down and then grilled him over Ancient Runes. “Did you take it? Was it hard? I’m looking for any easy way out here. I’m already taking Muggle Studies never mind having plenty of knowledge about the muggle world. Divination has gotta go and I need a replacement.” She looked over her list once more. “And a new list for it.”
  8. Suddenly the map glows a brilliant gold and rises from Ivey’s hand as an invisible hand begins to scrawl lines and landmarks on its bright surface. Finally it falls back and she leans in to study it. ”Well, it definitely looks like a map of this castle. And if my suspicions are right, the dragon should be in this basement chamber!” She points to a spot with a scaly gold look resembling some creature. Whoever drew this map wasn’t the most artistically prone. “I say we head that way. Remember, we’re trying to tame this dragon, not harm it!”
  9. Ivey glances at the parchment Tarma holds. “I’m rather suspicious of it, but alright, let’s have a look,” she says as she discreetly slides it out of her hand and opens it up. Ivey braced herself for something to happen but nothing did. In fact, nothing even appeared on the parchment, totally blank. Remembering the Marauders Map, she looked at the others to see if they had any good pickup lines to try out on it. Something like “I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good”, but maybe dragon related?
  10. I would definitely go to Florian Fortescue's! Pretty much any fruity ice cream on the menu would be amazing. Just walking around on such a hot summer day would have me ready for ice cream! I’m seconding Magical Menagerie (to buy a pet snake… I mean a legal Hogwarts pet of course). Mainly I could waste hours just talking to all the creatures and annoying them (what what who said that?), I mean entertaining them and providing valuable company of course. Flourish and Blotts would be a must stop to buy the weirdest, most entertaining book I can find. And, of course, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes for obvious reasons! Those new posters allowing joke items around Hogwarts are definitely legitimate and I feel as though my supply needs replenishing.
  11. Wanting to be sure you’ve seen everything there was to see at the festival, you go down one last aisle and find a booth shaped exactly like a movie cover. Intrigued, you step inside to find yourself surrounded by designers all crowding around tables and bumping into each other as they draw up plans for something. You can’t quite see what it is they’re making because everyone’s crowded around each other, but suddenly someone’s yanking you by the arm to the table. “What do you think of this one?” they ask. Astonished and not sure what’s going on (maybe you should have kept walking), you direct your attention to the table to find a… movie cover? That’s what you think it is at least. The designers seem to have a mess on their hands. Suddenly deciding to take control of this and play along, you announce, “It’s not quite right, the right side needs more color,” you point to the place you’re talking about, “and over here the text is a bit too big.” You grab a piece of paper and start showing everybody the improvements that need to be made to the cover. You’re not sure if your team members, who apparentely think you’re in charge, know you just wandered in or not, but you do know you better play the part well and come up with a bedazzling movie cover before they figure it out. Who knows? They might just hire you anyway if it’s good enough! Design a movie cover for either an existing movie or one you make up. You can use any art medium you prefer, but make sure it’s eye catching! Complete this task no later than August 18th at 11:59 pm HOL time for 15 rubies!
  12. You continue on through the festival, starting to get worn out despite the bright lights triggering every sense. Deciding to have a rest, you have a seat on an elegantly painted bench. Right as you’re ready to peruse the next few booths, a young boy comes running up. “Can I interest you in a bit of trivia?” he asks, enthusiastically. Glancing around, you decide some trivia might be a good idea and will allow you to rest your legs a few minutes longer. Taking his offer, you accept a clipboard he hands you with a row of questions elaborately painted on thick cardstock. Your eyes skip over the page, taking in the designs, and then you reach for the feathered calligraphy pen he offers you. First question, oh dear, the answer’s right on the tip of your tongue! 1. Wooden boy whose nose grows when he lies. 2. Year that Dumbo was created. 3. Company that created Bambi. 4. Animal Disney movie made into Broadway show. 5. First live action Disney movie. 6. Pixar Movie with the highest box office profit. 7. Oldest Disney movie. 8. First Disney Short. 9. Year Disney World first opened to guests. 10. Date Walt Disney was born. Answer these trivia questions for 10 rubies! Send your answers in a forum pm to me (Iverian) titled “Movie Trivia”. Remember to send them in by August 18th at 11:59 pm HOL time!
  13. As you step through the festival, you stumble upon a brightly lit booth with muggle screens all over, as though they themselves were the booth’s decorations. Curious, you approach the booth to find a man excitedly lining people up as if for a race. Upon closer inspection, you notice each person has a remote in their hands and are poised to begin. “On your marks, get set, go!” With that announcement, the screens suddenly flashed to a card with four options below it. You squint to get a better look and see… Sleeping Beauty! Well, the cover for it at least. You’d recognize Aurora anywhere. The players click in their guess among the options they have (really, who guessed Lion King for this one? That’s just rude) You wait to see how the game ends, and as the players get tense, a clear winner emerges. The bystanders break into applause and the leaderboard flashes the winner’s name in neon lights. Deciding to give it a shot, you step up. Clicking the link below will transport you to a Kahoot game. Each slide will have a movie cover on it and you’ll have to guess the correct movie. You will need a free Kahoot account. Press “play” and then “single player”. At the end, there will be a leaderboard that you take a screenshot of. Send the screenshot to me (Iverian) in a forum pm no later than 11:59 pm on August 18th for 10 rubies! May the odds be ever in your favor! https://create.kahoot.it/share/movie-trivia/c5167f1e-8ec9-4d5c-91be-8462c0f87f91
  14. You’ve seen many booths throughout the festival, but you’re thinking it’s time to actually start acting. You remember the stage you saw earlier and decide to see if they’re accepting anyone for tryouts. Walking up to a lady with a clipboard (she looks authoritative enough to possibly be who you’re looking for?), you ask about tryouts. “Well, we only have one spot left, but I guess we could fit you in?” she responds. Excited, you head up the steps she points to and find yourself preparing for tryouts. It turns out to be pretty lowkey as the festival simply wants to give everyone the opportunity to act and have the full experience, so the next thing you know, you’re handed a script and are pushed on stage. Other festival goers are standing there too with their own scripts. Each looks slightly bewildered, except for a girl who confidently steps into the center of the stage. Suddenly experiencing stage fright, you glance at your script again to find it… blank?! How are you supposed to act with a blank script? Well, it’s not entirely blank, there is a prompt at the top and each of your names are labeled down the side saying where your lines will go. “This is what improv looks like!” the girl excitedly exclaims. We’ll each have to come up with our own lines as we go, as well as our moves around stage. “Come on, this’ll be fun, just be creative!” she encourages everyone, as you all take positions around the set props and begin to make a story out of thin air. The prompt is, “Taming a dragon hiding somewhere in a large medieval castle.” Take as many creative liberties as you wish as you create the movie script, as long as it’s HOL appropriate. For example, I’ll go first here: Iverian: *reaches the grand staircase leading to the castle after following the expansive path up* “I can’t believe I made it this far already. The Queen has informed me the dragon resides somewhere on the east end, so I should head in that direction? First though, I’ll come inside and get my bearings of this enormous castle.” The next person will then continue the story as they find me and group up, constantly pushing the story along until we find the dragon and figure out a way to tame it. Each post earns you two rubies for a max of 10 rubies. Remember to finish posting by August 18th at 11:59 pm HOL time.
  15. Don’t worry about that, Tarma already volunteered too!
  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKYYY!!! You are the absolute most amazing friend and have put up so wonderfully with all of my… amazingness *cough* nonsense *cough*. Therefore, I present to you a pet iguana, please enjoy your present! Note: The common room will be filled with an insane amount of glitter and confetti all day, as well as an enormous supply of cake and all manner of shiny items (except the sword, I stole that). The after party will last the weekend… plus a month. Have a fantastic amazing stupendous terrific awesome day!!! <33333
  17. As you pass a brightly lit stage full of people totally decked out in costumes, you stay to watch the show. However, it’s taking a bit longer to get started due to a costume mishap, so you decide it’s time for a break and take a seat on a short rock wall. You open your bag to peruse all the goodies you’ve acquired so far, right as an argument erupts a few feet down. You’ve never been much of an eavesdropper (okay, that’s a lie), but you listen in on this. “I’m not kidding, give me any movie quote and I can tell you the exact movie it came from!” argued one lady. Her friend seemed to question that though, “Yeah right, you’ll be stumped eventually.” As the first lady went to deny that, her friend turns to you. “Do you really think she’ll be able to name any movie from a random quote they had?” Caught off guard by the question, as you didn’t have any prospects of getting pulled into this, you answer quickly, “I don’t know, I mean, it might be possible?” Exasperated, the friend says, “Fine, we’ll have a bit of a competition then. I’ll give a movie quote and you both have to give me the movie it’s from. If she does better,” the lady says as she points at you, “then she wins, and you’re fibbing.” She points at her friend, who actually looks excited to take on this challenge. Meanwhile, you’re not entirely sure you’re ready for this, but seeing as that show isn’t solving their costume issue anytime soon, you put on the most enthusiastic smile you can muster and get ready. Time to test your movie knowledge! The first person will select a movie quote and the next person will have to guess the movie it came from and then provide their own quote! I’ll get us started with, “Just because it's what's done, doesn't mean it's what should be done”. You’ll post five times each for a total of 10 rubies! Make sure your movies are HOL appropriate! Remember to finish your five posts by August 18th at 11:59 pm HOL time.
  18. The Film Festival – you’ve been waiting for it all year! Finally it’s here and you’re at the front gates, giddy with excitement. You make it to the front of the line where a retro style ticket booth stands and a lady asks for your ticket. With an excited smile, you dig around in your pockets, only to be greeted with a few coins and some old candy wrappers. Where has your ticket gone? If you can’t find it soon, you won’t make it past the front gate! Upset, you back away from the booth while the person behind you steps up and presents a shiny ticket. Just as you’re beginning to feel rather upset, a kid taps you on the shoulder and you turn to see what he wants. “Why don’t you just make your own ticket?” he asks. “Well, I can’t do that, that’d practically be thievery to get in on a fake ticket,” you respond, though you’re not totally over the idea. “You already paid for a ticket though, right?” he prods. “Well, yes, but I don’t have it.” “Then it’s not stealing if you get in on a fake one, as long as you’ve already paid for the real one.” You contemplate the idea for a second, until it finally begins to seem like a good one, so you nod at the kid who offers one last piece of advice, “Just make sure it’s realistic, but unique enough to be believable since all the tickets here are different!” With your mind set, you begin to make your ticket. Using any art medium you prefer, design your own personalized ticket! Your ticket should have your HOL name on it, so they know whose it is, but let your creative spirits roam! Your ticket should be no larger than 600 x 600 pixels. Complete this task by August 18th at 11:59 pm HOL time for 15 rubies!
  19. Ivey heads into the Leaky Cauldron and plops down on a bench. She’ll need a butter beer after that crazy school year! Who knew third year electives were so fun but tiring? She ordered a frothing cold glass of butter beer and waited for some friends to arrive. She had a list of school supplies she needed (including a book for Divination… but did she really want to continue that class? She definitely didn’t have the talent (or patience for it)). Ivey scanned her list and saw her Arithmancy textbook. Ah, she already missed that class.
  20. Absolutely amazing job everyone!! So incredibly proud of you all!! I’m seconding the gold spending!
