When winter comes, it brings in a rush of howling winds, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bite at exposed hands and faces. Which is why this stall is one of the more popular ones in the Frost Fair, as it allows the visitors to ward off the chill with warmth and softness. Take a look around the stall and pick out your favorite snuggly pieces to complete your winter look. You can show your frost fashion by describing your wear in 80 words or more, or by using a dollmaker or some other graphic program. If you decide on the latter, you can use the dollmaker below, or one of your own choosing. It must be winter, snow, cold or similarly themed, though! Dollmaker Post your dolls or description of your winter clothing below to earn 15 rubies and 15 beans by January 8th 2023 11:59 pm HOL time.

There is a large group of people at a particular stall, which is dwarfed by impressive icey art. As you move closer you just manage to hear the person manning the stall say that the world of ice sculpture is unfathomable and mystifying. Interested, you stop and look at what other people are making. Try your hand at carving your own ice sculpture! Will you make a magical creature, a portrait, maybe something abstract? Show it to us as an artistic depiction or a description of at least 80 words or more. Post your graphic representations of ice sculptures or a description of them below to earn 15 rubies and 15 beans by January 8th 2023 11:59 pm HOL time.

It would not be a Frost Fair without some friendly competition. You can see snowball fights and people making snowmen around the edges of the fair, but what attracts your attention the most is the sound of a crier inviting people to an igloo-making competition. Make the best wintery den and get some cool trinkets to take home! Solve the fallen letters puzzle below to best other contestants at igloo-making. Click here for a bigger picture. Send me your solution to the puzzle as a private message (Subject: Frost Fair Fallen Letters) either as a picture or a phrase to earn 10 rubies and 10 beans by January 8th 2023 11:59 pm HOL time.

The shimmering silver light fills the hall again. The knights march in a neat line toward Merlin’s box. You’re eager to see how it works this time but as the first knight gets within a foot of the box, there’s a sudden flash and he vanishes. You squint, trying to see what happens to the next one but to no avail. Soon, only the king remains. He turns and sweeps the room with a courtly bow of thanks, then turns and steps towards the box. With a final flash, King Arthur disappears and the silver light winks out. There’s silence in the room for a second, only broken by the sound of Merlin’s box gently clicking shut. Well, we did it! We returned the king and his noble knights to the court of Camelot (and also made a few friends along the way). Such courage and chivalry shouldn’t go unrewarded, so we have some rubies to hand out! Happy Birthday, Maxim!
Prof. Maxim Trevelyan replied to Prof. Sky Alton's topic in Sir Nick's Notices
Thank you guys! You are the best! <3 -
You hear great commotion in the common room. As you go down the stairs leading to your dorm, you see a mass of students huddled around the notice board. A large poster is stapled to the middle of the board with big letters 'Quidditch Seasons Begins!' that flash different colors and have Quidditch balls whizzing on the parchment. The Situation: The Quidditch season officially started. However, there is still a little time before the first match of the season. To get students, especially newcomers, familiar with the wizarding game, the Hogwarts staff decided to have introductory events with different flying games, short matches with smaller groups, and an arts and crafts corner on the stands where people can make posters of their (or another) house team, cheering them on. Are you brave enough to go up in the air and try yourself out against other students? Maybe you will feel more comfortable making a flashy poster for your house? Whatever you decide to do, look out for the Bludgers! The Location: You can roleplay within the Quidditch Pitch, the stands for observers, and the locker rooms just off the Pitch. Read the guidelines before diving in. Have fun!

Task 8: Quests and Creatures

The knights are back in the Great Hall and to keep them occupied, people have gathered round to act as an audience while they tell the tales of their daring deeds in service of the king. The visiting knights were fully invested in their storytelling, each trying to out-boast the other. They told how, during one particular week, 5 of them each went out on a quest on a different day (Monday to Friday). Each one of them fought a magical creature to save the poor people, and coincidentally, the weather was different on each day, as well. From the clues provided, see if you can determine the day of the week each knight fought a creature, what the weather was like each day, and what magical creature the knights fought. 1. Galahad did not fight on Friday; the day he fought his creature was neither cool, nor breezy. Percival fought his creature two days before Galahad, but it wasn’t breezy then either. 2. Two of the magical creatures were a wyvern and a giant; of those two, one was fought by Kay and the other was fought on Friday. Gawain and Percival did not fight a dragon. 3. The five knights are: Lancelot, the one who fought the troll, the one who fought on Thursday, the one who fought in overcast weather, and the one who fought in sunny weather. 4. The sunny weather on Friday made it optimal for fighting a giant; the task would have been harder just the day before, when there was rainy weather. 5. It was overcast the day the dragon was fought. The knight who fought the lake monster did it the day after Percival. The Knights are scattered across the castle and grounds and you need to find a way to corral them and herd them back to the Great Hall. Alas, this quest will not be easy. The Knights are chivalrous, unafraid of battle, daring and adventurous. Wait a moment…Someone is calling your name as you are searching the castle. You roll your eyes in exasperation when Sir Cadogan waves to you from the nearby portrait. While you doubt Sir Cadogan might help in your search, he still gave you an idea. Many of King Arthur's knights have their own exciting tales to tell. Our very own Sir Cadogan will tell you at great length how he defeated a wyvern with only a plump pony and a broken wand. With so many knights in Camelot, it is very possible that many knights' stories have been lost over time. Reintroduce us to a forgotten knight and tell us about their most notable adventure in 100 words or more. Perhaps the recounting of their brave deeds might spur them back into the castle or join in the tale. The tale must be recounted in your own words if you are taking it from another source and all HOL rules must apply. Post your write-ups below to earn 25 rubies and some of the trust of the knights by October 31st 11:59 pm HOL time.

Facts seem to show that the knights are to remain here, at least for a short while. They seem wary, but, fortunately, no fights or duels broke out between the visitors and the inhabitants of the castle. Some visiting knights wandered off in confusion and you start to realize that it would be best to gain their trust. You figure if people were dressed like them, it would probably instill a sense of familiarity. That is right, time for a medieval makeover! Medieval wealthy women wore luxurious, trailing dresses and elaborate headgear that covered their hair. Men wore short tunics with wide sleeves and long, pointed shoes. Clothes for ordinary people were simple, usually, two rectangles are sewn together to make a tunic. Knights, of course, wore intricate armor. You can show your medieval fashion by describing your wear in 80 words or more, or by using a dollmaker or some other graphic program. If you decide on the latter, you can use one of the dollmakers on the sites below, or one of your own choosing. It must be medieval themed, though! Task 3: More to Learn, More to Know

You find yourself realizing that you do not know much about the knights that suddenly appeared in Hogwarts castle. You know that they are a part of an order dedicated to ensuring the peace of King Arthur's kingdom following an early warring period, and were entrusted in later years to undergo a mystical quest for the Holy Grail. That is all, really. You want to know more, who are they, what makes them tick, do they know any magic, do they perform it? The questions are endless. Solve the fallen letters puzzle below to find out more information about this curious group of gallant knights. Click here for a bigger picture. Send me your solution to the puzzle as a private message (Subject: Gryfftoberfest 2022 Fallen Letters) either as a picture or a phrase to earn 25 rubies and some of the trust of the knights by October 31st 11:59 pm HOL time.

…where the heart is. At least, that is what they say. However, a curious thing happened in the Great Hall as you had to face down with the retinue of King Arthur that was somehow transported from the court of Camelot. The group looks very confused. One of them has his sword drawn and the rest are looking close to either following his lead or bolting out of the Great Hall and disappearing into one of the many rooms Hogwarts castle has or into the wild of the grounds. You know that you need to make sure to get the King’s and the Knights’ trust. First, you get the idea that it is best to calm the group down by making them feel at home. What other way to do it than by making yourself a signature?! It should be in keeping with Gryfftoberfest and the theme of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table in some way but other than that, you have total freedom. Why not give yourself a title or even a brand new, knightly name? If you have ever wanted to be Sir, Lady, or some other noble title, why not now? Upload your image to an image hosting website, set it as your signature, and post below (or you could simply post it as an image in your reply if you do not want to wear it). Alternatively, you could describe your ideal knightly signature in at least 80 words. You will earn 15 rubies for your design and you can also bag yourself an extra 10 rubies by incorporating this year’s motto: ‘Never yield, for we have the ever-flowing butterbeer!’ submitted by Aura Nightmoon. Post your signatures below by October 31st 11:59 pm HOL time.

There is no effect and you still float. You cast liberacorpus to let yourself down.

It chirped and give me no reply. It motioned as if it wanted me to follow her. Problem was, it was in the opposite direction that the centaur took. Who to follow?

It fills perfectly up to the rim of the glass. You cast Immobulus to keep it frozen so you can take a sip and do not spill anything.

It works only too well and dries out all the drinking water as well. You cast Finite Incantatem to stop it from drying out water in other rooms as well...
