There’s a buzz of anticipation in The Great Hall. The house tables have been pushed against the walls and magical silver lines have been painted across the stone floor, dividing it into neat rectangles. You glance towards the platform at one end. It’s starting… You’d better find yourself a partner. The Situation: It’s the long anticipated return of The Duelling Club! Get your wand ready and make sure you have all your spells memorised. Remember to listen to the professors though - duels can swiftly get out of hand… The Location: You can roleplay anywhere in The Great Hall. Give the guidelines a read before you dive in (and in particular remember that your characters magical abilities and knowledge should roughly match your HOL year). Have fun!

Ship’s Log, fourth entry Well! We finally saw off those terrible pirates. I know Gryfftoberfest is all about embodying the qualities Gryffindor represents but I’d have preferred it if none of my students had had to display quite that much courage. All the same, I’m exceedingly proud of the bravery and ingenuity everyone displayed in the face of terrifying odds (and Tarma makes a mean cup of lapsang souchong). Hopefully the rest of our journey will pass uneventfully (although one of Ivey’s Fwooper’s does seem to have gotten loose… I really hope the silencing charm doesn’t wear off before we find it). My plan now is to relax on deck in my hammock with a glass of pineapple juice and a very large bag of salted peanuts. Oh, what now? People are shouting again. If those dratted pirates are back I. will. Not. Be. Held. Responsible. For. My. actions! Update: WE’VE DONE IT. We’ve sighted land. All the signs indicate that we’ve found Godric Gryffindor’s mysterious island at last! I guess all we can do is explore it. Oh man, I’m nervous. We’re about to drop the anchor. This is it!

It’s such a relief to have reached the island at last. I wonder if Godric Gryffindor felt the same about it when he got here all those centuries ago. I wish we had that last page of his log. Just what made this island so special to him? Is there a secret we haven’t discovered yet? It’s time to recreate that missing page from Godric’s log. Just what did he find on this island that made it so significant for him? You decide! Write a diary entry that the founder of Gryffindor might have written when he finally landed on this mysterious island. What did he discover? Your logs should be 150 words for full credit.
