Gryffindor Motto Contest!

In case you haven't heard, Gryfftoberfest is quickly approaching! It's only a couple of short weeks away! However, before we get there, in typical Gryffindor tradition we need a new motto for this year!

We've had some real classics through the years:

"Normal Doesn't Apply To Us"

"What happens at Gryfftoberfest stays at Gryfftoberfest!"

"You have to be mad to survive."

Just to name a few.

This year's motto should represent the great house of Gryffindor not only through our very own Gryfftoberfest, but for the entire year. It's an incredible honor.

As seen above, Gryfftoberfest can be the focus of your motto if you wish, but I'd strongly suggest trying to focus on Gryffindor as a whole, not just this one upcoming month (even if it is truly awesome and mind-blowing). The fact is if it represents Gryffindor well, it'll certainly represent Gryfftoberfest as well and it can be used beyond the grand celebration.

Rubies

Mottos will be voted on by the entire Gryffindor staff to determine the top 3.

-5 rubies for each entry (3 maximum)

-5 additional rubies for 3rd place

-10 additional rubies for 2nd place

-15 additional rubies for 1st place

Rules

There is one very important new rule this year:

-Absolutely no motto may contain the words break, broke, or anything remotely related.

It seems last year's motto, "Gryffindor - So Insane We Broke The Padded Walls," was a little too perfect and we actually did break the walls... of our entire common room. For many months. Therefore, our Head of House insisted on this rule. No blowing up, crashing, or breaking the Common Room this year.

Other than that new rule, many of the rules will be remaining the same:

-Mottos should be fairly short and to the point, so no more than 15 words long.

-All students, prefects/JPs (den or SPD), and professors may take part in this contest! I know staff members like rubies too.

-You may submit as many mottos as you want, but only the first 3 will count for participation. All beyond 3 will still be included in voting.

-Mottos need to be of appropriate rating. Nothing obscene or offensive.

-Mottos should be submitted in a single email (no flood of owls every time you think of a new brilliant motto) to spd@gryff.net with the subject line "Motto - HOL Name - HOL ID" minus the quotations. Please fill in HOL Name and HOL ID with your own name and ID.

The deadline to submit your mottos is September 17th at 11:59 pm HOL Time! That isn't really very long from now, so you better get started!

A reminder that you have just 1 day + less than 8 hours to get those mottos in! I've only received entries from 3 people so far, which is incredibly sad for this contest! Don't you want YOUR motto to go down in the proud/noble/insane Gryffindor and Gryfftoberfest history?

Remember, everyone can enter: Students old and new alike, prefects, professors, anyone! And there are rubies up for grabs.
