1. Columnists

Overview: The Paw Print is looking for those who wish to start their own personal column in a newspaper. It could be a culinary column, a column on magical beasts, or a column on arts and crafts. It could even be a column of poetry if you like to write poems! Your call. We’d love to see your creative side! Even if it is something such as "doing a monthly interview" or "submitting a monthly riddle or puzzle" that could count as a monthly column!

Requirements: Be able to write for your column once a month on time. The column must be 500 words minimum. If you are submitting poetry it must be 20 lines. This can be one poem or multiple, you will just need 20 lines per month! If you are having a riddle column, then you need to submit 1 riddle per month! And if you are having a cooking column you either need to submit 1 recipe with a description and image, or 2 different recipes.

Application Process: To apply for a columnist position, send in the first submission of the column you would like to write. If the idea and the column is approved, your submission will be in the next month’s edition of the Paw Print. Please also include an introduction/description of your column so that we can add it to the Column description page!

2. Writers

Overview: Writers have the chance to write up 1 or more articles per issue. The articles can be on pretty much anything within the HOL Guidelines. HOL Events, new contests, contest results, reviews, etc. We’re really trying to go for a fun magazine atmosphere, so we highly encourage thinking a bit outside of the box. For example, tell us about the amazing Quidditch practice you witnessed, or interview a student who was pranked by first year students, or a psychologist analysis of how Zoki became to be such a points hoarder - anything you like! If you are looking for ideas, or want to run something by me first, feel free to use the contact page. If you’d like I can provide you with a list of unclaimed article ideas the staff currently posted for the current issue.

Requirements: Be able to write at least 1 500-word-minimum article per issue. Check in regularly to the Paw Print forum in the Gryffindor common room (if you are in Gryffindor). Submit your work by the deadline.

Application Process: To apply to be a Paw Print article, write and submit 1 or 2 article(s); 500 word minimum (or about 1 page single spaced in Word). If you are accepted as a Paw Print writer, the articles will be published in the next issue of the Paw Print.

3. Graphic Designers

Overview: You will need to produce and create 1-2 original graphics per month. These can be for columns, head banners, or smaller images that you see for sections around the site, whichever suits your fancy. In addition or on it's own, you can also create your own gallery! This means that you will have a place for all of your art work that you create each month to go and you can continue to add there to have a section of your work all in one place!

Requirements: You must possess adequate knowledge of make graphics (surprise!). You do not need to be an expert of graphic creation, but experience is a plus! You will have to submit 1 graphic per issue of the Paw Print, although that may alter as there is more or less of a need for graphics each on a month to month basis.

Application Process: Create (at least) two graphics for the Paw Print and send them in! Ideally we would want to use them so try to make them applicable to some area of the newspaper and we will get you started on your path to worldwide graphical domination!

4. Artists

Overview: You will need to produce and create 1-2 original pieces of art per month. These can be a painting, drawing, graphic, photograph, whichever suits your fancy. Every month these will be added to your running gallery. This means that you will have a place for all of your art work that you create each month to go and you can continue to add there to have a section of your work all in one place! To see an example check out Wicket Wilcox's Gallery!

Requirements: You must have the ability and desire to create the art of your choosing! You do not need to be an expert artist or have published art before this, but just like to do your skill set! Submitting a piece of art each month (it can also be old art work)

Application Process: Create (at least) two pieces of art for the Paw Print and send them in! And then we'll get your gallery started. If you would like an introduction for your gallery as well as a header image or a gallery name, let us know about that as well! If you include an introduction for your gallery you will be included on our Column/Gallery monthly highlight list!

5. Website Designers/Developers

Overview: Website developers will be needed to make sure that everything on the website is working and that all of the articles, images, and submissions are on the website in an attractive manner. It is also going to be their responsibility to work with the graphic designers of the newspaper to make each issue cohesive and appealing to the readers that month. New ideas regarding the layout and design for the newspaper are more than welcome!

Requirements: You must possess adequate knowledge on creating layouts and HTML/CSS. Not all of these are going to be required, per say, but they could be needed. You will be a part of coming up for new layouts and concepts for the Paw Print to make it more visually appealing as well as user friendly as a whole. You will also assist with putting up all of the submissions, articles, and graphics each month.

Application Process: Submit any new layout or design ideas that you have for the Paw Print (if you have images or sketches, that would be awesome!), as well as include any previous HTML or CSS experience you have!

UPDATE: if you have questions - send them to Fumei Shirokuro!
