  1. Now I know this is a popular topic that can also be found on the HOL forum, but I know I've been PMed by students wanting to befriend me after reading I play the same instrument as they do. So.... I thought this would be a great topic for Gryffs to find out who they share talents with so they can have musical bonding experiences within our house. We could also see if we have enough musicians to form a band? That's mostly a joke, but anyways.... Do you have a musical talent? Can you sing? Can you play an instrument? Do you write music? Or do you have absolutely no musical talent at all but secretly wish you could learn how to play the saxophone? Tell us about it here! My best instrument is the flute. Slash piccolo. I can also play piano melodically, and harmonically very slowly. I am trying to learn the guitar but I'm starting to think it's just not for me. My fingers just don't want to keep the strings down, even with power chords... I am also a songwriter. I've been writing lyrics almost as long as I've been here at HOL, and I'm starting to write music to them as well.
  2. I'm a college junior who unfortunately has five more semesters after this one. :( that's two and a half years.... i'm an interdisciplinary studies K-6 major (that means elementary/primary education!) with a minor in recording industry for songwriting. i'm trying to get my Gen Eds out of the way, so a lot of my classes are gen eds this semester. so i am currently taking Teaching Diverse Learners in the General Ed Classroom (AKA Special Ed), Experiences of Literature (AKA the same exact stuff I had to do for my three semesters taking AP English in high school :( ), Survey of the Recording Industry (AKA all the tedious and confusing yet VERY important information from all the classes in the recording industry program jumbled up into one....), Health, and History of the [American] Recording Industry. I think I reflect everyone else's opinions in just wanting to be DONE. the issue, however, is being an interdisciplinary major, it doesn't really give you any room to take what you WANT. that's why i added a minor, but at the same time i have so many interests, and i won't get to pursue them all because you can only be involved in so many programs unless you want to be in college (and therefore broke) forever....
  3. i've always loved chamber of secrets. it's got such mystery and intrigue, with new rooms and scheming house-elves trying to stop Harry from getting there. i'm rereading the books this summer though and have just finished the half-blood prince. it would be my favorite, except the ending is so sad... however it is a lot funnier than the other books...
