The Differences Between Vegan and Normal Chocolate

You probably have heard of veganism. Veganism is not eating any products which come from animals. That means that vegans can’t eat normal chocolate unless it is dark (normally over 77%). That means that vegans have to find an alternative. Now we come to my point. The differences between vegan and normal chocolate.

Some alternatives for milk are soy, rice, different nuts and oat. A lot of vegan chocolate manufacturers use sweetened milk in their chocolate which gives it a strange, sweeter taste. A lot of vegan chocolate contains coconut milk which people like for it’s creamy taste. It’s also rich in minerals such as selenium, calcium and magnesium whilst also containing crucial B vitamins! Other manufacturers use rice milk which is a favourite among the dairy intolerant, vegan and people with digestive issues.

Vegan chocolate also has a different consistency. It is somewhat softer and slightly gooier. This is a good thing for lots of people as non-vegan chocolate can be quite hard when it has just come out of the refrigerator.

Lots of people prefer vegan chocolate because the milk in milk chocolate is extremely processed and full of fat. Though lots of vegan chocolate chefs just substitute or take out the milk in chocolate some go further and substitute cane sugar for coconut blossom sugar which is less processed and also contains lots of minerals.

Vegan chocolate does taste different but for vegans who don’t prefer dark chocolate, it’s the best thing going whilst also being considerably healthier, in most cases.
