Thrift Stores have been around forever. While some people prefer to shop at name-brand stores, others have found the joy in thrift shops. While you’ll spend hundreds in an outlet store, you might find the perfect item for a tenth of its original price. Not only that, but thrift stores offer the perfect opportunity to reuse good clothing that would otherwise be thrown into a landfill.
Clothes are donated to most thrift stores by those who have outgrown them or simply don’t want them anymore. Most are not overly worn, and the majority are free of stains, holes, etc… There’s nothing wrong with the clothing, but instead of throwing them out, people decide to donate them to thrift stores where many use the profits earned to put towards charity.
In a thrift store, you’ll find all sorts of clothing ranging in brands and styles. You might come in not knowing exactly what you’re looking for and walk out with just the perfect addition to your wardrobe. Many times I’ve gone in with someone not intending to find anything for myself, and end up coming out with my new favorite wardrobe addition. As long as you know what you like and are able to spot the deals (many expensive name brand items are put in thrift stores after hardly ever being used), you’ll have a successful trip!
There are many unique items at thrift stores. Sometimes I’ll have one accessory in mind that I need, whether that’s a black shirt for an event, a new skirt to replace one I recently damaged, or perfectly fitting black skinny jeans, and I end up finding exactly that and a new item I didn’t know I needed, but pairs just right with it. Once, I walked in looking for those black jeans and found the exact kind I was looking for for a mere $5 along with an amazing summer dress for the same price!
The fun of thrift stores has always been the hunt. You never know what you’re going to find, and you never know if it will be a successful trip. Sometimes you won’t find a thing, and other times you’ll have so much you won’t be able to choose between it all!
There’s truly no point in spending tons in expensive outlet stores when people drop the same clothes off in a thrift store that has way more variety and insanely cheap prices!
