Prof. Amy Lupin Posted July 1, 2025 Posted July 1, 2025 You put your quill down and close your copy of Spellman’s Syllabary, satisfied that you’ve finished translating the ancient runes before you. We’d be interested to hear what you’ve just translated - was it for an assignment, some independent research or perhaps ancient runes spotted in the wild? We’re also curious about the translation itself. Please share your translation (and its context) in 100 words minimum by 11:59 PM HOL time on 31 July for 10 rubies.
River Fenwick Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I have heard that there had been some ancient runes located just outside of Hogwarts, but I never sought them out before. I went out to conduct some independent research, curious to find out where they were and what they detailed. It took some walking and checking rocks like a madwoman, but I eventually found a set. The first set of runes consisted of Algiz, Laguz, and Hagalaz, which meant protection, alke, and hail. It seemingly translated to "protect the lake from hail", which I could only assume was about the Black Lake. The second set consisted of Ansuz, Gyfu, and Jēra, which meant gift, god, and harvest. It seems that if the lake is protected from hail, a god will gift us a good harvest.
