Prof. Amy Lupin 6 Posted October 8 With many first-time visitors coming to Godric’s Hollow, the mayor wants to put together an informational booklet about the area. They’ve asked for your help with this and have given you freedom to choose what you’d like to write about. For this task, we’d like you to write an extract for the informational booklet of at least 100 words. Here are some ideas to help get you started: Write about a lesser-known (ie. non-canon) famous resident and their contributions to the village or wider wizarding community. Share the history of a local landmark or of another aspect of the village. Describe an important event in the village's history. Post your extracts below by 31 October 11:59 pm HOL time to earn 20 rubies. Share this post Link to post
Galena May 1 Posted October 9 (edited) List of Most Respected Residences 1. Healer's Hut, Home of the First and Only Healer of Godric's Hollow Elethea Jaison was an orphaned half-blood witch who settled in Godric's Hollow shortly after Godric Gryffindor's death or disappearance (some still believe that Godric is the Giant Squid in the Black Lake of Hogwarts in animagus form and some say that he was a phoenix animagus and lived on as Dumbledore's pet bird). Having no parents, Elethea had no Muggle or wizarding residence known to herself, and for some unknown reason chose to live under the the protection of the chivalrous and brave residents of Godric Hollow for the rest of her life. A Hufflepuff at Hogwarts, Elethea was extremely talented with all Outstanding grades in her O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s, in Legilimency, Potions, Herbology, Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures, and Healing Charms, with an exceptional understanding of how to relieve pain. She combines her magical knowledge with her mind- reading skills to heal her patients physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In the village known for lion - hearted duellers like Godric Gryffindor, she was unpopular at first, until the residents noticed an unknown feeling of happiness engulfing them within an area of a few square miles around her home. This made people curious and Elethea soon became known for her exceptional casting of the Cheering Charm. Over time, she gained many clients and very soon word got out that she could also heal injuries and relieve pain exceptionally well. Elethea enjoyed popularity for about a decade, before she was asked to fill the position of a retired Healer at St. Mungo's, but she refused to leave Godric's Hollow, claiming that she had developed an attachment towards her residence and the villagers. She disappeared soon after and when she returned about another whole decade later, she was seen covered in strange shamanic robes, crystal jewellery, and feathers. She claimed that she had been to Africa to learn shamanic healing practices and rituals. Though skeptical at first, her new combination of magical healing and shamanic cures soon became widely accepted at Godric's Hollow. Her hut is still the one-witch hospital of Godric's Hollow and sees several of her clients each day, except when she is off to take a spiritual break in nature and rejuvenate her healing and shamanic powers. At present, she is on one of her such tours for a year since the publication of this booklet, but you can see her hut a few miles to the right of Godric Gryffindor's original residence. Her hut has remained the same ever since she first arrived in the village, with no signs of reinforcement or rebuilding. She wasn't fond of luxury, so her home is only a hut with a thatched roof and the walls of straw broken down in places, not very well-protected against the natural elements. Rumor has it, though, that she likes nature to disturb her from time to time. If you ask any of the wizarding residents of Godric's Hollow about her, they will go on and on about how effective her healing is and how less she charges in comparison to St. Mungo's for her shamanic and healing services. River Fenwick 2 Posted October 9 Within the late 1800s, Elara Wren was a gifted witch descended from generations of herbologists in the English countryside. Renowned for her unique ability to converse with magical plants, she was brought up in the little town of Godric's Hollow. From an early age, she had firm inclinations towards the magical properties of the flowers around her; she would spend long hours wandering around woods and fields to unveil their secrets. When tensions between the two worlds, magical and Muggle, were on the rise, Elara developed protective charms made of local flora through her botanical knowledge. She cast protective enchantments into the trees and plants surrounding Godric's Hollow, ensuring that dark forces could not approach undetected and turn the village into a haven. Some of these charms remain on the flora to this day! Share this post Link to post
Ellie Vernez 0 Posted October 23 The potter memorial was built post 1981 in honour of James and Lily Potter who were sadly killed by Lord Voldemort, when he went after their baby son Harry Potter. The statue is also a dedication to Harry Potter who survied his encounter with Lord Voldemort. The memorial is owned by the St. Jerome's graveyard, and is located in the centre of the village square of Godric Hollow's. From a distance the statue looks like an oobelisk with names of people ( muggles) who presumably died in a war. Only witches and wizards could see the statue change into three figures, James, Lily and an infant Harry Potter being cradled in his mothers arms. Share this post Link to post
Adeline Morior 5 Posted Wednesday at 09:57 AM St Jerome's graveyard is a well known landmark that can be found within Godric’s Hollow. It can be found next to the St Jerome's Church. It houses the final resting places of many of the village’s former Wizard and muggle residents. There is no set record specifying when exactly the graveyard was founded. Rumer has it that the Graveyard itself is extremely haunted. The Famous Ignotus Peverell, the youngest of the three brothers from The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The known to be wisest and most humble that passed his cloak of invisibility to the Potter family. It is known to be the final burial of people such as James and Lily Potter, Kendra and Ariana Dumbledore, and a member of the Abbott family. Share this post Link to post
Cassie Williams 2 Posted Wednesday at 01:07 PM Lerpuddle Park, nestled at the edge of Godric's Hollow, is a small park with a rather amusing history. The park was developed communally by a group of volunteer witches and wizards living in the Hollow. One such member, the park's eventual namesake Mr Richard Lerpuddle, decided that he would personally oversee the creation of a water feature in the middle of the park. Unfortunately for Mr Lerpuddle, as he was casting the final spell to charm the water fountain to have dancing spouts of water, a group of unruly kids Bowles him over. With the spell being interrupted, instead of creating water spouts, the fountain started overflowing with foam and thousands of bubbles started floating into the sky. While the adults were initially flustered, the children were of course delighted, immediately diving into the huge new bubble bath to play. The floating bubbles began popping and showering the kids with rainbow bursts of water. As it was apparent the incident didn't cause any harm, it wasn't long until the adults joined in on the fun, laughing and adding to the chaos by starting a huge water fight. In the end, the fountain was restored to normal, and the park was officially opened not with a solemn ceremony, but with a bubbly, raucous celebration and a reconvening of the water fight. The villagers wholeheartedly embraced the pandemonium, naming the park in honor of their the wizard who's fumbled spell had given them such fond memories. Legend has it that every now and again a giant cloud of bubbles will still float up from the fountain in Lerpuddle Park. Share this post Link to post
