Paw Print Updates!

Welcome everyone! Whether you like to write, read, make puzzles, cook, gossip, play sports, listen to music, or anything of your own, this is the place for you! The Paw Print is Gryffindor's very own newspaper that features all of those things and more and you can check it out here!

To give a bit of background, each house has their own newspaper (and you can submit to all of them) as well as an inter-house newspaper called the Hogsmeade Herald. This can seem a bit confusing, but it's just a way to try to get as many people active an involved as possible! Each paper has their own criteria and interests in what gets posted and what doesn't get published, but in Gryffindor we're pretty much open for as wide of a range of articles and submissions as possible! As long as your submissions is well written and HOL appropriate, we are very interested in publishing your work! So to give a (hopefully) short breakdown of the different areas of the Paw Print that might be of interest to you:

News: This can be HOL News, Gryffindor News, or Other News (like something going on in the Muggle world (Olympics!) or a recent sighting of a Crumple Horned Snorkack!).

Living: This would be anything related to Housing (like a new dorm mate), Living (Check out Destri's How To column!), or various recipes for the Cooking section!

Entertain: This section features all of our columns or articles or submissions regarding Music, Movies, Theater, Plays, and Gaming! If any of those areas interest you, check it out. ^^

Gossip: By far one of the most popular areas of the Paw Print - featuring articles such as Dear Snape and our Tea Leaves and Talons (you never know what might be in store for you there!) - it has some of the best news from around the HOL halls!

Sport: This area is for Quidditch and any other outside sports that you might find interesting! (Again, Olympics if this applies to you!) So feel free to write articles about whatever may be of interest in a competitive sort for you!

Create: This is our area for if you like to write stories, poetry, or create your own art! If you have old stories or poems or drawings that you have at home but never published (or used for HOL points!) they can be sent in here to earn points for these!

Advertising: Do you have a club or activity that you would like to feature? Get it up in here! Also we accept classifieds so if you are interested in a new pet lion cub to have follow you around or something entirely less serious, you can put that up as well!

Challenges: The last major section of the Paw Print features our monthly challenges! If you have submitted to the other areas but are also looking for a different way to earn points you can do these! This area also includes our riddles and puzzles, so check those out if you are interested!

So noooow that you have an idea of what is included in our paper - if you would like to submit, check out this page! Also the breakdown for the points and how many you can earn (in general, you get 10 points for every submission, but that is not always true!) look here. If you have an idea that doesn't specifically fall under one these sections, do not feel like you cannot submit it - we are always open to new ideas and suggestions! And to follow up - we are now accepting articles and other submissions for the September Paw Print issue!

The theme for September's issue will be The Nerdy Lion so try to think of all things school related! Gryffindor hasn't had the best track record in terms of points and earning the House Cup and we really want to start this school year off right! So any suggestions for how to get involved on here, how to earn lots of points, and things like that would be very welcome! A few of the ideas from staff include:

• Highlighting successful graduates of last year - top point earners for Gryff were Hailey Potter, Chadwick Cadet, Fumei Shirokuro, Kaiwa Alexandra, Drake Zodiark, Eno Thomas, and Risa Thomas! If you wanted to hunt them down for tips or interviews, feel free!
  
• Gryffindor Things You Might Have Missed During the Summer Vacation (for an older student!)
  
• Articles on "How to choose classes" or "Study habits for the classes" on what they do to get their work done
  
• Pranks people plan to pull now that they're back to school!
  
• "Bum, Burn, or Boast: Which Books Should be on Your Reading List." For like book suggestions and reviews and whatnot. Taken!
  
• How different people manage schoolwork - Taken!
  

Of course these ideas are just to get you started! You can write something related to the "Nerdy Lion" theme or something entirely of your own (like a cooking column or a gaming article or anything really!). Don't feel limited at all, and again - let us know if you have any questions!

All submissions will be due August 21st at 11:59 PM HOL time, so make sure you have your articles in by then!

It's time for our next Paw Print issue! We're going to speed things up a bit because we want to have our very own Halloween Issue! If you have anything spooky, some tricks or treats to share, or anything related to Halloween, definitely send it in! We're looking for anything related to Harry Potter Halloween, or your personal experiences with the Halloween, as this is one of the most celebrated times of year at Hogwarts! Of course, if you want to submit something completely unrelated to the holiday, that is perfectly fine as well.

Submissions will be due Sunday, October 28th, at 11:59 PM HOL time (so we have just over a week) and the new issue will be up really shortly after that! The staff is going to have some fun editing everything for the new issue.

Just another quick update as our newest issue is coming out - the ever smashing Fumei Shirokuro will be taking over the head editor spot! So all of your questions, concerns, and comments can start going to her!! I'm going to beeee taking a break, although if you do have some leftover questions I can definitely answer them for the time being! :D

But yea, Fumei is pretty awesome, so feel free to bug her to your hearts content! ;)

Our last Paw Print issue had only been released 9 days ago! And that was our amazing Halloween Issue (for October)! And of course we will be releasing a new issue at the end of this month! This month's theme is SPORTS!! Because which month is more perfect to cover this theme than November? Quidditch is finally starting and all the other muggle sport seasons are also starting. So if you have anything that has to do with sports, a story, a game review a personally experience!

What you aren't a sporty person by heart? No worries! You can still send in completely unrelated to the theme!

Submissions will be due Sunday, November 25th, at 11:59 PM HOL time! This is a little more than a week (like 9 days?) And then I hope to launch the new issue within this month so that we are back on track with releasing issues ;)

November has passed by, which means it’s time for a new and amazing issue for the Paw Print! So after all those exercises we have done, it’s time to get us some new energy by eating! Uh… I mean by celebrating the holidays! There are tons of things that are being celebrated throughout December! There is obvious Christmas, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Saint Nicholas’ Day, New Year’s Eve (New Year’s Day).

So this issue we are going to devote at all the HOLIDAYS that are being celebrated in December! You can write about your favourite holiday, your religion?, what you do during the holidays. Write about some lovely holiday recipes or create some art that features something of the holidays!

So yes this issue you are free to put your love of the holidays in! And if you don’t love the holidays, as an experienced Grinch speaking, you can also write about something else! Maybe something Grinchy ;)

Submissions will be due Wednesday, December 26th, at 11:59 PM HOL time! This is almost 2 full weeks for you to submit! And then I hope to launch the new issue within this month so that we are back on track with releasing issues ;)

Welcome to the new year! Did all of you have an amazing old/new year celebration? And did you guys enjoy the latests Paw Print Issue? Well after all the holidays it's time for a new issue of the Paw Print! And what better issue is there then a first issue filled with lots and lots of love?! YES this Paw Print Issue will be a VALENTINE Issue! An issue which is devoted to all the different kinds of aspects of valentine.

For this issue can send in all different kind of submission. You can either send an romantic love story, an interview with a broken heart, the way you or others spend valentine (or don't). And if you don't like the write or craft about valentine, you can always go for something else! We love all kinds of submissions! From funny things to sad things, to stories or art about the Chinese New Year! I would love to see your amazing submissions for this issue!

Submissions will be due Friday, February 8th, at 11:59 PM HOL time! This is almost 3 full weeks for you to submit! And then I hope to launch the new issue within this month so that we are back on track with releasing issues

You know what guys… Spring is almost there! Finally the snow will be disappearing, flowers starting to bloom, trees getting back to life, and most of all the sun will be reappearing! Oh how I missed those lovely warm rays on my face while walking outside. Instead of shivering and hiding myself in my winter cloak. But let me not wonder of on my thoughts, although I’m pretty good at that.

So Spring is on the doorway and The Paw Print will be releasing this month a new issue swell! Yes we are this obnoxious monthly issue, as you guys know ;)

You guys probably figure it out already, but the newest issue will be surrounded around SPRING!!

Which means you guys can get back writing new articles, drawing/creating new arts for the Paw Print! This can either be something related to the spring. How it is in other countries, what common holidays are in certain countries, or just lovely things about spring, new life and what’s not more you can think off! Beside that you can also write other things! Maybe how the winter is ending or other random things. Just let your inspiration run wild!

Submissions will be due Sunday, March 24th, at 11:59 PM HOL time! This like 10 days for you guys to submit your stuff!

Oh... My... Gosh...!! The end of this school year is almost over! Which equals summer, which equals vacations, which equals free time for those who don’t have a job, or even for those who have a job, ‘cause summer equals vacations like I just said! But let me not swirl around the bush! This will be the last issue of the Paw Print before it will reappear in the new school year!

So let’s make together a spectacular last school year issue! With the theme GRADUATION ! ‘Cause when a school year ends, everybody graduates! If someone graduates from school or into the next year, it doesn’t matter, they graduate! So get those articles, drawings/creations, etc in! although it doesn’t have to be graduated themed! It can be anything and everything! Just have fun making it and we will post it for you! Just let your inspiration run wild!
