Quest 7: February

Recommended Posts

You step from the freshly cleared tunnel into the antechamber. The air is close and dusty. Ancient items are spread about you in piles, like some long forgotten attic: a chest, furniture and even stacks of what you’re fairly sure are parts of several grand chariots. The final door in front of you took some opening but at last you can squeeze through into the chamber beyond. This one has to be it, the one you’ve spent so long looking for.

The Treasure (10 rubies)

This date and these words will lead you to the precious historical item you’ve come in search of

28th October 1925, gold and lapis

The chamber is dark but by the shivering light you brought with you, you can make out dim shapes that reflect the glow back with the warmth of gold. Towering figures leap into life on the walls as you examine the decorations and several, angular objects come into view. There’s a long, flat topped one just in front of you, with four statues standing sentinel about it. Off to one side, another doorway is open and from the twinkling glow, you know it must be a treasury.

The Journey (20 Rubies)

Describe a statue, wall painting or an item from the treasury that you find and explain what it is or depicts and why you think it was placed there in 100 words or more. Alternatively, you can make a graphic but you still need to provide a brief text description with what it is and why.

You move over to the centre of the room to examine the top most granite slab. Before you disturb what might lie beneath, you need to learn all you can from the room around you. Trying to stop your hands from shaking, you begin to catalogue what you can see.

The Victory (20 rubies)

If you want to really understand the import of what it is you’ve found, you’re going to have to start deciphering and understanding the clues left behind. Work out which modern Latin letter these Egyptian hieroglyphs correspond to and then arrange them alphabetically (according to our alphabet)

Lion, owl, hand, foot, jar/cooking pot

(These descriptions are imperfect and sources vary so include where you looked them up so I can take it into consideration)

The deadline is 11.59 PM HOL-time on February 28th. Send all your tasks in one private message to me (Sky Alton). Once the deadline has passed, feel free to share your responses as a reply to this thread (but ONLY after the deadline).
