Gryfftoberfest is Coming... (Motto Contest!)

Gryfftoberfest is coming and that means it’s time to get ready!

 

 For those who don’t know: Gryfftoberfest is a huge celebration in the month of October where we play games, cause Gryffindor Tower to groan under the weight of many ‘tasteful’ decorations and drink truly inhuman quantities of Butterbeer, all in the name of celebrating Gryffindor. While this month is all about being leonine, we’re proud to throw our doors open to every HOLer, be they snake, badger, eagle or something else altogether. Come party with us!

 

But first, Gryfftoberfest is all about celebrating what makes Gryffindor… Gryffindor. Celebrating it very, very loudly. So, we need you to help us find a motto for us to use to represent Gryfftoberfest 2018. We’re looking for something short and bold that people can include in their signature designs for the next contest (or that we can yell at random intervals to make people jump just ‘cause we can).

 

  It could talk about our traditional characteristics of bravery and nobility, like last year’s fabulous motto: ‘Paws of Glory’ by Maxim Trevelyan. Alternatively, it could follow this year’s theme of Unsung Heroes as we delve into all the different and less traditional forms that courage, inquisitiveness and adventurousness can take.

 

Rules:

-Deadline is 11.59 PM HOL-time on 28th September. Results will hopefully be announced on the first day of Gryfftoberfest, 1st October.

-Keep your Mottos to 15 words or less and entirely HOL appropriate.

-You must be happy for people to reuse your motto on signatures and the like.

-You’ll earn 5 beans per motto for the first 5 you submit. You can submit more for consideration but you won’t earn additional beans for them.

-Third place will win an extra 10 beans, second place an extra 15 and first place an extra 20.

-The Gryffindor staff will decide winners .

 

  Send all Mottos to me (Sky Alton) via a Common Room or HOL Forum PM titled ‘Mottos 2018’ and include your Hol Name and House. Please try to gather them all together into one message – I don’t want my inbox cracking under the strain if you send a new one every time you think up another incredible motto!

Remember that you only have until midnight (HOL time) tomorrow to get those mottos in! We've received some awesome ones so far but we always need more.

   We received some incredible Mottos and found it really hard to pick a winner. That being said, we just about managed to narrow it down and the results are as follows:

In second place is Eno Thomas with ‘Fantastic Lions and Where to Find Them’

  And finally in a joint third place are Iverian Gnash with ‘Rock n’ Roar, Lions’ and Vanessa again with ‘Full of Pride’
