First of all, I'd like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISSA!!! to our beloved Head of House. For those of you who don't know, purple is her absolute favorite color. So, in her honor, we've brought back PURPLE MONTH! So enjoy, get purple and have fun! :D (As a quick note, refresh the page if it still shows up red. Your cookies might be preventing you from seeing it as purple. :P)

As many of you know, Gryfftoberfest is all about Gryffindor pride. And when so much of HOL revolves around the use of forums, what better way to show off your pride than through your signature, avatar, and the Gryffindor banner? This contest is all about making signatures and avatars that show Gryffindor pride, and this year we've thrown in a section for a new Gryffindor forum banner. How you choose to do so is up to you. You may also make use of the winning entry for the motto contest that just ended in your graphics. But you don't have to use the motto if you don't want to. However, if you use a motto, use the official one please. Try to include "Gryfftoberfest 2011" in your graphic as well (not required though). The motto for this year is... Gryfftoberfest - ereh sevil ytinasni Now, whether that's someone's typing after drinking too much butterbeer, someone gone truly insane, or if it has a clever meaning... that's for you to decide. :P The winning graphic entries may then be used throughout the month of October on the HOL forums in place of what you usually use. Have fun all! Beans Signatures and avatars will be voted on separately by the entire Gryffindor staff to determine the top 3 for each category. -5 beans for each entry (3 maximum) -5 additional beans for 3rd place -10 additional beans for 2nd place -15 additional beans for 1st place There are 3 separate contests - signatures, avatars, and banners. So the bean count for each contest. That means submitting 3 signatures and 3 avatars will earn you 30 rubies minimum, 15 for each category. Rules -All designs should be your own. Do not take them from elsewhere. -Do not customize graphics with your own name, doll, or picture. These graphics will be available for all to use. -You can send in just a signature, just an avatar, just a banner or any combination (though they will be judged separately). -Signatures should be at most 250 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height. And they must be less than 250 KB. -Avatars should be at most 100 pixels by 100 pixels. And they must be less than 25 KB. -Banners should be at most (but very close to) 855 pixels wide by 202 pixels high. No real limit on KB size. Be reasonable. And do try to make it not clash with the rest of our forum. :P -All students, prefects/JPs (den or SPD), and professors may take part in this contest! I know staff members like beans, too. -You may submit as many graphics as you want, but only the first 3 of each type will count for participation. All beyond 3 will still be included in voting. -Graphics need to be of appropriate rating. Nothing obscene or offensive. -Graphics should be submitted to spd@gryff.net with one of the following subject lines depending on the category: "Signature - HOL Name - HOL ID" or "Avatar - HOL Name - HOL ID" or "Banner - HOL Name - HOL ID" minus the quotations. Please fill in HOL Name and HOL ID with your own name and ID. The deadline to submit your graphics is October 10th at 11:59 pm HOL Time! (I know it's short. Want to get these up ASAP. :)) Note about the motto contest: The winning motto was submitted by Jade Packer! Congrats and thank you! For the rest of the results you'll need to be patient, they won't be announced until Gryfftoberfest is coming to an end, when all contest results are posted. :D

Ahh, the Gryffindor House Awards. The name itself brings a hush over any crowd, since it is everyone biggest, deepest desire to own one of these. These awards are shiny, sparkle in the sun, and give a melodious ring when you tap them with your wand. As such, they can only be given to the most deserving students. But out of so many fantastic students, how will we ever pick the best? The task seems almost too daunting to fathom. Well, that's where the Lion's Pride Awards Committee comes into the picture. The Lion's Pride Awards Committee is the group of staff and students responsible for nominating and giving out Gryffindor's prestigious House Awards. As a member of the Lion's Pride Award Committee you would be responsible for keeping an eye out for things such as promising students, enthusiastic new first years, exceedingly helpful staff, and friendly students from other house, just to name a few. Each month committee members make their nominations, discuss, and then vote. These are the awards we currently give out: Do you want to be a part of this amazing committee and help give out these super shiny awards? Want to be part of the magic of giving awards to fellow Gryffindors?
